Engine and drive train 

Desirable 4.0 AJ6, reliable and strong engine known to be good for 400k.

Low mileage for a 34 year old car.

Mechanically sound car, that starts on the button and runs very well. Very smooth engine running on fresh oil & genuine filter. Gets up to normal temperature quickly, idles smoothly, no overheating, no odd noises.

No warning lights on the dash.

Transmission is smooth and responsive.

Diff is quiet.

No obvious leaks underneath the car.

Original Catalyst & exhaust in decent condition.

LPG Gas system fitted, (untested).

No gas in the system, so it’s completely untested. The mixer was removed for fault testing and is in a box. It could easily be refitted, and the system recommissioned if needed, though I know some people don’t like these gas system, and would want to remove it anyhow?

Interior 

New headlining fitted, so no sagging. Rare on these cars!

Sun visor clips present not broken (often broken/ weak point)

Seats are exceptionally good with no rips or tears. Even the drivers seat bolster is good/ not damaged.

All trim and fixtures are present and correct. Nothing broken or missing,

Wood veneers are generally good for one of these cars, with the exception of the typical ash tray lacquer peel. Plug & play to fit another ash tray, ideally from an X300 that don’t lift in the same way.

Paint and body 

Generally smart and shiny from a distance. No major lacquer peel on the top surfaces (which is often the case on these cars). Up close there are localised repairs and minor paint imperfections, as usual for a Jaguar this age.

The important typical weak points are good though, sills, floors, rear deck, A posts.

Some minor corrosion spots are present though. Around the screens and on the left wing. Please see the pictures for details.

Underside is solid. Again see pics for details.

Quad Front lamp conversion, using factory OE parts/ lamp modules. The car would have originally had the Fish Tank “Styled” rectangular lamps, but many owners convert them to quads as new parts are easier/ more economical to replace. These are plug and play, so could be converted back if the new owner wants to.

Headlamp washer jet caps present and correct (often missing).

Wheels & Tyres

16” 16x8J Dimple Alloy wheels. original paint/ unrestored. Decebt paint condition for these, but of course not perfect. No cracks/ welds or buckles.

Tyres all have decent/ legal tread. 255/55/16.

Dunlop’s on the rear, Avon on the fronts.

Tested working

All exterior lighting/ headlamps

Screen wiper and wash system.

Brakes good.

Boot lid badges brand new condition.

Bumpers nice and straight, chrome is shiny, but has some minor spots across the centres.

Rear brake pads as new.

Seat belts all function.

All windows

Radio cassette, with security code. Back light working too.

Electric seats.

Electric mirrors

Cruise control

Heating/ ventilation system.

Interior lighting is mostly good, with the exception of one seat back light.

Work to improve the car?

Central locking is not currently functional.

Only one speaker works. So ideally needs them all replacing to have decent audio sound. Not expensive to use a set of aftermarket parts. ,

Air conditioning system untested, needs pressure testing and recommissioning if you want to using it. Many owners don’t bother though, hence they are often left unused.

Work done.

New Exide battery fitted, with correct OE battery clamp.

LHF door latch greased.

Front bearings greased/ checked/ adjusted.

Front Upper shock bushes replaced with new genuine parts.

Number plate lamps cleaned up and fresh bulbs fitted.

Both front lamp modules replaced. No bulb warnings now.

electric aerial repaired, now fully working.

Front low Pad warning link loom replaced.

Oil & genuine filter just changed.

New air filter (MANN OE spec).

All fluid levels checked/ top up as required.

Transmission fluid replaced

Locks and hinges greased

Wiper park microswitch replaced.

RHR & LHR exhaust Joined with a sleeve to secure the usual weak point in the rear wheel arch.,.

Rear pad wear sensor replaced.

Replacement fuel pump, tank cleaned out, new fuel filter. .

The Sills have been welded so are now totally solid.

Throttle position sensor replaced

Rerouted oxygen sensor cable away from exhaust.

NGK Spark olugs fitted.

All fuses checked and cleaned.

Number plate screws and caps replaced

Drivers footwell carpet Replaced with the correct Rattan carpet

Replaced fuel cap.

Alternator belt adjusted/ tightened.

RH repeater lens - replaced
