1987 Daimler XJ40 3. 6 40k, MOT, Moorlands Green, Very low mileage example.

Runs and drives great. Ready to drive away.
This must be one of the better surviving examples of the Daimler XJ40 3. 6. Find another in this colour and condition?

40, 612 genuine documented mileage. This may increase slightly as the car is in use.
Top spec Daimler model, with all the toys, and the digital dash, from the 80s.
Two keys.
V5C present,
JDHT Heritage certificate enclosed.
Excellent Provenance, Lots of History/ invoices, old MOT’s, full book pack, including stamped service book, XJ40 early model brochure & price list included.
A book of pictures has been printed up by a past owner documenting some restoration bodywork,

Fully recommissioned after a period in storage. Fully serviced, including fresh air filter, coolant, engine oil and genuine filter, transmission fluid, diff oil, brake fluid, upper front shock bushes, Rear Subframe A Frame mounts, Drive shafts greased, new front brake callipers, New rear discs and pads, new wiper blade, hand brake adjusted, Fully Waxoyled under side.
Matched set of Uniroyal tyres all round, with 6-7mm tread all round. Wheels previously refurbished by a past owner.
Front Brakes pads at least 80% (rear 100%).
Brake system working, stops the car well,

Engine and transmission are smooth and responsive, starts first time, no smoke, good oil pressure, strong charging and cooling system all in order.
Original stainless steel exhaust system.
Original Jaguar radio cassette and electric aerial fully working.
Original Jaguar tool kit and spare wheel.
Original dealer number plates (Lex Mead Maidenhead)
Working self Levelling rear suspension.
Lambs wool rugs in good order.
Very clean straight bodywork and paint.
Generally great condition all over (not perfect though).
Previously had some bodywork/ paintwork with pictures made into a book. The body is still very good for an XJ40 this age, but it’s not showroom perfect. There is some minor bubbling on the bonnet etc.

Tested working.
The digital dash display is fully working.
Radio, central locking, all windows, electric seat adjustments, sun roof, electric mirrors, all lighting inside and out,
Heating/ fans, digital clock, SLS, screen wash, hand brake, wiper, indicator’s, seat belts. Etc.
Rear picnic tables fully working, with smooth hinges.

Work Done
Air conditioning system has previously been converted to R134a, by a past owner, and was in use. I am planning on getting it pressure tested and gassed up this week. But I can’t guarantee that working yet. It’s getting checked though at least.

New Exide battery.
New rear subframe bushes just fitted.
Replacement number plate lamp fitted.
Left front and rear Central locking solenoids replaced. CL works on all the doors.
All door latches lubricated to save the door handles and keep the locking system working,
Fuel pressure regulator replaced
New Wiper blade.
Reconditioned front callipers. Fitted.
Hand brake adjusted.
Fitted long spare wheel pin.
Diff oil - replaced LSD oil.
Exhaust clamp mid to centre replaced
front shock bushes & Gaiters replaced
Fully cleaned up and waxoyled underneath., very clean looking underside.
LHR door latch fixed again
RHF door seal replaced with a good part/ no damage,
transmission fluid changed
Replacement very good/ as new condition headlamps fitted.
oil and filter changed (genuine Jaguar filter).
Under tray parts were missing/ replaced front spoiler.
Front Coil springs changed
Boot carpet sides - aluminium braces fitted
Washer jet cap. Changed
Swapped wheel nuts for stainless caps type.
ABS- soldered OV relay
Aerial refurbished.
Air filter renewed.
Fuel filler latch box fixed
Replaced fuel gaiter.
Replaced climate control panel.

Other work which could improve the car further?
The headlining is pinned up. It’s not hanging down, and looks tidy overall, but ideally it could be replaced.
The boot lock doesn’t work on the central locking, so it has to be locked manually on the key. So in summary, a rare and beautiful early XJ40, in top spec, in great overall condition, rare colour and very low mileage, great history, with a long MOT, ready to drive away. What more could you want?
